Catholic Wedding Ceremony Songs

HREF="http://www.ourbridalsongs.com/catholic-wedding-ceremony-songs" target="_blank">Click here for a list of Catholic Wedding Ceremony Songs

When picking out wedding ceremony songs for a catholic wedding one of the most important things that a bride and groom should do is consult with a diocese. The diocese will provide the couple with a list of guidelines about what kinds of songs are acceptable. The Catholic Church does allow the bride and groom to have some decisions about their wedding ceremony songs but it is smart for the couple to check anyway instead of regretting not to later.

When a couple is conversing with the diocese about their wedding ceremony songs there is one question that would be helpful for them to ask. The question is whether or not secular music is allowed. Catholic worship believes that the type of music that should be played is Liturgical which has a strict ministerial goal. Catholics believe that music should only serve this purpose and never dominate over any other. This is a reason why very few catholic churches allow the use of secular music to be used for wedding ceremony songs; sometimes a lucky couple may find a church that will allow them to use this type of music during the prelude but it does not happen very often at all.

When choosing catholic wedding ceremony songs or Catholic wedding hymns the couple can ask themselves so questions that might help them with the decision. The questions are whether or not the music is prayerful, whether the music is accessible, and are the songs in question beautiful or not. The question about whether the songs are prayerful is in regards to catholic liturgy’s purpose including wedding liturgies. A song is not prayerful if it does not give God the glory or sanctify the worshipers. Beautiful music refers to the Catholics’ beliefs that beauty is a window onto the divine. Catholic ceremony songs are better heard when they are performed by an organist or string ensemble. Even if the bride and groom do not get the music played this way it will still be beautiful and an unforgettable experience.
