Wedding Songs Selection Made Easy

The best wedding songs are those that create the mood or atmosphere you are looking for. Planning great wedding music is an important part of your wedding planning process. With these tips, you can truly make a memorable day, whilst having fun at the same time.

1. Book the DJ/Band well in advance:

To ensure you get the DJ/Band of your choice, you should look to book them in as soon as your wedding date and venue have been secured.  Some wedding venues provide a DJ as part of the per person catering charge. If you prefer a different DJ, you should be able to arrange your own for additional costs. If you are looking for a band, ensure you have heard them live before paying your deposit.

2. Sceduling and details:

If you are planning to use a DJ and a band, make sure that there is enough space for both at the wedding venue and that all are familiar with the timetable to avoid confussion and awkward gaps throughout the night.

3. Draft up a list of the best wedding songs:

Take some time to research and draft up a playlist of the wedding music you want played throughout the day and evening. Hundreds of wedding song examples can be found at OurBridalSongs.com. Provide this wedding song list to the DJ in advance as he may provide you with some comments or further ideas. You may wish note any specific songs you don't want played.

4. Wedding songs for everybody:

Remember to vary the style of wedding music selected on your song list to enable guests of all ages to have a good time. The last thing you want is a repetative night by only playing Shania Twain wedding songs or only 2010 wedding songs for 6 hours straight!

5. Make the choice yours:

Understanding your wedding guests and their preferences is crucial when selecting the best wedding music. Your DJ may talk you out of a song selection becuase he thinks it's cheesy but it may have special memories for your wedding guests. If you know that a certain song will make the night special, insist on it no matter what; it is your wedding! And vice-versa for bridal songs you know won't sit well with the crowd.  Make your wedding song playlist is unique by spend time on your selection and not cutting corners by simply playing the top 100 wedding songs of all time.

6. Start slow and build:

Begin the occassion by playing slow numbers and then progress to faster songs throughout the evening/night. Slower and softer songs will allow the guests to enjoy dinner and the time catching up with family and friends. The faster songs after the cutting of the cake will entice guests to dance the rest of the rest of the night away in celebration!

Take the time to research the best songs for your wedding as these set the tone for the entire occassion. Make it memorable!
